Hoist your sails and brace yourselves for the musical high seas! In this Pajama Concert, baroque music for two violins based on famous literary seafaring adventures (Gulliver’s Travels, The Tempest, The Odyssey), is performed on period instruments and paired with a reading of Chris Van Allsburg’s fantastical tale The Wreck of the Zephyr. Music of Telemann, Purcell, Morley and others. 45 minutes.
It's time for a wild rumpus! Join in a game of musical charades featuring quirky 17th century chamber music mimicking members of the animal kingdom and other zaniness. Sandra Boynton's simple yet poignant counting book Hippos Go Berserk! and Maurice Sednak's timeless classic Where the Wild Things Are will leave you hungry for a bedtime snack of...hot porridge, perhaps? Music of Biber, Farina. 45 minutes.
A Mo Willems Spectacular
Celebrate the lively books and vivid characters created by author and illustrator Mo Willems (Knuffle Bunny, Don't Let the Pigeon Ride the Bus, Elephant and Piggie). Like the characters in these much-loved stories, music from the "high baroque" era will help us identify and communicate our big emotions. Music of Vivaldi, Corelli and Handel. 45 minutes.
Pajama Concerts share live chamber music and classic children’s literature in a relaxed and inclusive setting. Blankets, pillows, and favorite stuffed animals are welcome, and a bedtime snack follows!
