PrintWorks: Making Music
a multi-century, multi-sensory, interactive art and music event
The tools we use shape us, and the things we create.
PrintWorks: Making Music features an art installation, printmaking workshop and musical performance. The event is centered around 17th century printed musical scores, instruments and printing processes, with a specially-commissioned electroacoustic work integrating old and new.

PrintWorks was originally presented as a virtual, multi-media concert for Boston’s 2021 SoHIP summer concert series. The project was an international collaboration between musicians, museums, printers, video and audio engineers in Boston, a composer based in London (Audrey Wu) and visual artist in Seoul (Alex Jaehyun Kim). We explored new ways of working together virtually during the pandemic.
As travel and in-person performance restrictions lifted, in 2022 PrintWorks: Making Music transformed into a live event, where audience-participants came together to explore, create and listen. We were privileged to have the full creative team, and guests from near and far present for the pilot at the cavernous and wonderful Substation in Roslindale, MA!
This year, PrintWorks’ next phase includes a pocket-sized, versatile ensemble (able to fit easily in smaller spaces) and a visit to a very special museum coming in Spring 2026. Watch for details.
