WORKING TOGETHER
Please arrive shortly before your lesson time to unpack instrument, accessories, music and Practice Journal, and tune. You may also video record each lesson for home practice use.
Please silence your phone or use Airplane Mode during the lesson.
Write down your assignments each week in your Practice Journal to create a guide for daily practice, track your long-term progress and celebrate your achievements!
Practice Commitment You are agreeing to commit to practice a minimum of 5 days per week. Learning to play an instrument requires an investment of time, energy and focus — please budget accordingly! Quality and consistency are just as (if not more) important than quantity.
Schedule Conflicts? Running Late? Unavoidable conflicts come up periodically. Please give at least 48 hours’ notice when cancelling a lesson. Effort will be made to make-up lessons cancelled due to illness or emergency. If you will be late, please send me a text (518-698-5868) to let me know you are on the way. I will only be available to teach for the remaining time allotted.
Parent/Guardian Role
Parents for students ages 12 and younger commit to…
attend and observe each lesson (policy is no drop-off lessons)
be your child’s “secretary” - take your own lesson notes in the student’s Practice Journal
serve as home coach for daily practice, as needed (determined by students age and ability to independently self-direct practice)
Siblings are always welcome to come to the lesson with a quiet activity like coloring, reading or homework
SUZUKI program
Group Classes/Goddard Studio Group Class Partnership: Group classes reinforce what is learned in private lessons in a fun, interactive way — we learn how to play with each other through the shared Suzuki repertoire and jumpstart motivation! Suzuki students will either have opportunity to participate in group with my studio, or join in with colleague Lisa Goddard’s studio for Group Classes in Jamaica Plain (Wednesday evenings). Group Classes are a required part of participating in the Suzuki Program. The group class tuition is separate from the Private Lesson fee listed above.
Opportunities to Connect and Learn with the Suzuki Community: Stay tuned to learn about play-ins and learning opportunities with the Suzuki community in Roslindale/JP, across Massachusetts with Suzuki:MA, and internationally through the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
